Technology

We want to make every visit to our Logansport dental office comfortable, fast, and efficient. Up-to-date dental technologies allow us to achieve those goals. With new dental technologies, we can improve your procedure results and help you create your best smile.

You can learn more about the dental technology we use in our office below.

Digital X-Rays

We love using digital x-rays to improve the efficiency and accuracy of our diagnoses and treatments. With digital x-rays, we can fully assess your dental condition, enabling us to offer you the best advice and recommend the most appropriate treatment options for your oral health.

Benefits of Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays help our skilled dentists, Dr. Esi Parker and Dr. Travis Parker, get a complete picture of your oral health, including areas they can't see with a visual exam. With x-ray images, our team can spot developing issues that need treatment before they become apparent on the surface.

Digital Intraoral X-Ray Sensors

Digital intraoral sensors allow us to take x-ray images of the inside of your mouth quickly and easily. We can place the small sensor comfortably into your mouth to take the radiographic images. It is a  thorough and relaxed x-ray process for most patients, with some people preferring this method over traditional x-rays. This advanced device provides high-quality, high-resolution images that are perfect for diagnostic purposes. We can even zoom in and enhance certain portions of the image for the most accurate analysis possible.

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

Traditional x-rays show teeth in two dimensions. CBCT imaging provides a precise, three-dimensional view of everything, including teeth, bone, nerves, sinuses, and airways. In seconds, this low-radiation scan captures detail that flat x-rays simply can't reveal.

Our dentists use CBCT imaging to plan dental implant placement, diagnose TMJ disorders, evaluate bone loss, and map complex root canal anatomy before treatment begins. The result is treatment planned with pinpoint accuracy, meaning fewer surprises, better outcomes, and a treatment plan you can feel confident in.

CEREC Same-Day Restorations

CEREC dental technology enables us to design and fabricate custom restorations in-office using advanced digital scanning and milling. Instead of traditional impressions and multiple appointments, CEREC captures precise images of your tooth and uses computer-guided design to craft restorations that fit comfortably and look natural.

We commonly use CEREC to create crowns and bridges that restore damaged or missing teeth while supporting proper bite function. Because the technology produces restorations on the same day, patients often complete treatment in a single visit, reducing the need for temporary restorations and return appointments.

CEREC crowns and bridges are made of strong, durable materials designed for everyday use. Dentists customize each restoration to match the surrounding teeth in appearance and to align with the bite. This technology helps streamline treatment while maintaining accuracy, comfort, and long-term oral health support.

Intraoral Cameras

Our dentists at Parker Family Dentistry can use intraoral cameras during your exam to show you exactly what they see, providing valuable information and unique insight into your oral health. The dentist can show you the images in real-time on a screen by the dental chair, so you can discuss dental issues while actually viewing them. Dr. Travis Parker or Dr. Esi Parker can also take photographs with the intraoral camera. We can use images from our intraoral camera during your exam, along with x-rays, to track changes in your dental health over time.

Nitrous Oxide

We realize that dental visits induce anxiety for many patients. We strive to offer gentle and compassionate care to everyone who visits us, but we know that is not always enough. To ensure every patient feels entirely comfortable and relaxed during their dental procedures, we offer complimentary nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, at our Logansport practice.

As a mild sedative, nitrous oxide doesn't make you go to sleep. Instead, it should simply make you feel calm and happy, improving your dental experience.

Rotary Endodontics

With rotary endodontics, we can provide efficient, accurate root canal treatment, often resulting in better patient outcomes and quicker healing. For this process, we use a specialized, electrically powered tool with incredible precision and flexibility to carefully perform root canal therapy. The tool's nickel-titanium tip offers flexibility, allowing us to navigate the tooth more easily and create a gentler approach.

Cephalometric (Ceph) X-Rays

Cephalometric x-rays capture a detailed side-view image of your head, allowing us to evaluate how your teeth, jaw, and facial structure work together. This technology is especially valuable for orthodontic planning, airway assessments, and monitoring facial growth in children and teens.

By analyzing these relationships, we can create a treatment plan that not only straightens your teeth but also supports proper bite alignment and facial balance. For you, this means more predictable results, improved function, and a smile that looks natural and fits your overall appearance.

Panoramic X-Rays

Panoramic x-rays provide a complete, single-image view of your entire mouth, including your teeth, upper and lower jaws, sinuses, and surrounding structures. We use this technology to evaluate wisdom teeth, detect infections or bone loss, plan dental implants, and assess overall oral health.

The process is quick, comfortable, and requires very low radiation exposure. Because it gives us a broad, detailed overview, we can identify issues that may not be visible during a standard exam, helping us diagnose concerns earlier and create a more efficient, well-informed treatment plan.

Digital Impressions

Digital impressions use a small, handheld scanner to capture a precise 3-D image of your teeth and gums, eliminating the need for traditional putty molds. This technology is commonly used for crowns, bridges, veneers, implant restorations, and clear aligners.

The process for obtaining these images is fast, comfortable, and ideal for patients who feel anxious or have a strong gag reflex. Because digital scans are highly accurate, your restorations fit better from the start, reducing the need for adjustments or remakes. You also benefit from faster turnaround times and a smoother overall experience.

Dental Diode Laser

A dental diode laser uses focused light energy to treat soft tissue with exceptional precision and minimal discomfort. We use it for procedures such as gum contouring, periodontal therapy, treating cold sores, and reducing bacteria in infected areas.

The laser seals blood vessels as it works, which means less bleeding, fewer sutures, and a lower risk of infection. For patients, this often results in a more comfortable procedure, reduced swelling, and faster healing. It’s a gentle, efficient way to improve gum health and enhance the appearance of your smile.

T-Scan & Electromyography (EMG)

T-Scan and electromyography (EMG) are advanced diagnostic tools that evaluate how your teeth come together and how your jaw muscles function during biting and chewing. T-Scan measures bite force and timing, while EMG tracks muscle activity. Together, they help us identify bite imbalances, TMJ disorders, and muscle strain that may not be visible during a standard exam.

With this detailed insight, we can precisely adjust your bite to improve comfort and function. Patients often experience relief from jaw pain, headaches, and uneven tooth wear, along with a more balanced, stable bite.
